Flipboard is one of the most popular social magazine apps for iPad. It uses posts from Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram to save its users time keeping up with everything going on in the world of social media. The app has been available for the iPad for quite some time. iPhone owners can now take advantage of this app as well. Flipboard on iPhone does not look drastically different from its big brother. You can still use it to keep up with Facebook, Twitter, RSS feeds, and other social services.

Flipboard grabs all the updates from your favorite social networks and turns them all into a beautiful magazine. The page turn is quite fast on the iPhone. The app offers Instapaper and Read It Later support. Best of all, you can use “Cover Stories” to see a selection of articles and photos being shared with you at the moment.

Flipboard is social media junkies’ best friend. It saves them time going through the updates they have received. It looks quite elegant and is free. What more can you ask for?

Twitter and Facebook may be the kings, but FriendFeed is not far behind. If you are not already on Friendfeed, it’s never too late to start. It’s a great way to share information, engage in discussions, and learn new tricks. Chances are you are not around enough to manage your Friendfeed account as well in addition to your Facebook and Twitter accounts. You can always sync your Friendfeed account with the other ones, but I personally prefer being involved in the community more. That’s the best way to get more value out of it.

If you have an iPhone, you can easily manage your Friendfeed account when you are on the go. That’s probably the best way to keep up. Here are 6 iPhone applications that let you update your account from anywhere at anytime.

BuddyFeed: a premium client for FriendFeed junkies. Very powerful and comes with everything you need to take care of your FriendFeed account. It’s the best Friendfeed client by a decent margine.

Pingle: a client based on Ping.FM that allows you to update your FriendFeed page fast.

Statuso: a great little app that lets you update your FriendFeed or Facebook status easily.

Compose: allows you to send notes and links to your FriendFeed account.

Nambu: a free app for FriendFeed that lets you manage your account while you are on the go. Not as good as the premium ones but still good.

webfeedr: another FriendFeed client that lets you post updates and access your info on your phone.

You don’t have to be at your desk to get the discussion going on Friendfeed. All you need is a phone that lets you manage your account while you are on the go. Best of all, the above apps don’t cost you more than a couple of dollars. Well worth the investment.
