Facebook Timeline has gotten a lot of positive and negative reactions from all around the web. Some people like the new interface while others absolutely hate it. If you are in the former group, you may be interested in making your website look like Facebook Timeline. WP Facebook Timeline creates a visual linear timeline of your posts and media files.

WP Facebook Timeline lets you filter your timeline based on terms or post types. Content can be filtered by category. Twitter content can be included on your pages as well. You can add content to your timeline by adding new stories without creating new posts. In order to activate this plugin, you will have to call the right function in your template:

WP Facebook Timeline is not perfect but it makes dressing up your blog to look like Facebook Timeline feature easy. It goes without saying that you should have a WordPress site to use this.

Being on Twitter all the time may help you gain a bit more followers over the long run. It could also drive you and your team out of business. Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites can be great tools for any business as long as they are used with a clear plan and strategy. For those who do not have a plan for social media, it could be quite distracting. Thankfully, there are ways to manage that. StayFocused, Hazeover, and Self Control are 3 tools that let their users manage how much they waste online and keep them on the right track with their business.

StayFocused: a powerful tool that limits the amount of time you can spend on certain websites. While listening and contributing to Twitter and Facebook communities is not a waste of time, you do not want to do it all day. Unless you don’t have a business to run and don’t have anything else you need to get done on a daily basis.

SelfControl: this tool works the exact opposite way to StayFocused. Instead of allowing you to work on certain websites for a specific amount of time, this tool blocks your e-mail and certain websites to provide you with the opportunity to do some other things with your time. It is currently compatible with Mac OS devices.

HazeOver: a superb application that gets rid of the distractions on your Mac, allowing you to focus on the task that you have at hand. Great for multi-taskers who want to improve their focus.

Social media could become an addiction if you are not too careful with it. There is a difference between making money from Facebook and wasting time playing with all kinds of silly apps on a daily basis. Thanks to the above tools, you can manage your e-mails and the time you spend playing with social media sites and stay productive at the same time.

Many of us use your smart-phones and tablets to keep up with our favorite social networking sites such as Facebook. That does not mean people don’t use personal computers anymore. Apps such as FaceTab for Mac make it much more convenient to keep up with Facebook on your Mac computer or laptop. This app is developed to bring the convenience and experience of mobile Facebook apps to desktop computers.

FaceTab for Mac is a very handy tool to address your Facebook addiction with. Instead of having your web browser or clients such as Hootsuite open at all times, Mac users can rely on FaceTab to keep up with their Facebook updates. The app stays out of users’ way but lets them keep up with their news feeds, profile, inbox, and photos.

FaceTab offers you with real time updates. You have the option to configure its behavior and even set up audio alerts for Facebook. It sits in your menu bar, saving you from having to deal with an open browser. It is surprisingly stable and has not crashed on me so far.

FaceTab for Mac is fast and makes keeping up with Facebook a piece of cake. It saves you time keeping up with your friends and fans.

Many social media rookies assume that their Twitter strategy will work fine on Facebook as well. In reality, these are two very different communities. People expect to see different things on Facebook than Twitter. You can post as many stories as you like to Facebook (and leave as many comments as your heart desires). That still won’t help you maximize your opportunity on that site unless you have a clear strategy. There have been a lot of talk about what algorithm Facebook uses to display “Top News.” It’s not rocket science. It all comes down to interaction. If you have content that people interact with, like, and comment on, you are going to get more out of Facebook. Here are 5 ways to do just that:

share videos: don’t just share text status updates with your friends. Those can get some action but videos and other types of status updates do get more love from Facebook community and Facebook itself. There is a reason Facebook has provided us all with all those sharing tools.

share links: if you can’t get your hands on videos and photos to share on your Facebook profile, at the very least add a few links with your friends everyday. You do not want to overdo it. Quality trumps quantity here. At the same time, links are much more powerful than text status updates.

post thought provoking status: as is the case with your blog posts, controversial Facebook updates can get you more love in that community. You don’t want to crash and burn. But if you have mastered the art of controversial blogging, you know what to do here.

provide a value: people love learning new things and finding out about new ways to do things. Tutorials, case studies, guides, and other helpful content work great on Facebook. Also, if you take time to answer other people’s questions, there is a good chance they will return the favor and interact with your updates.

work on your personality: a lot of people are just too boring on Facebook. Many are afraid of going overboard while others don’t take this community that seriously. Don’t be afraid to let your personality shine through. People are more likely to interact with you and your content if you have some personality.

In order to get the most out of Facebook, you are going to need a decent strategy. Talking about your cats, food, and children is nice but that’s not the way to make the most out of your Facebook efforts.

Facebook has been on a mission to challenge Google and go beyond what many thought impossible in generating more traffic than any other web property on the Internet. With its latest plugins, Facebook may be well on its way. Facebook’s social plugins bring a whole new dimension to promoting content on Facebook. In just a matter of few days, thousands of websites have already implemented Facebook social plugins. Considering that implementing these tools takes only a few minutes, there is no reason not to try.

Facebook Like Button is already getting a lot of love from bloggers. It gives Facebook users an easy way to give some love to articles that they like the most. For bloggers, it’s a win win situation. The plugin brings Facebook to their community and helps spread the word around their top blog posts. The Recommendations plugin is another exciting tool that makes it easier for your Facebook visitors to find out about your top posts.

You can obviously go beyond these simple tools and fully integrate Facebook into your website by allowing people to log on to your site and comment using their Facebook accounts. Many top blogs and publishers are already trying that (CNN comes to mind).

It is also possible to show your visitors what other Facebook users have been doing on your website (that could encourage others to do the same things others have been doing). What’s nice about all these tools is how easy one can implement them. You don’t have to be a programming genius or web developer to do it. Is Facebook right for your website? You never know unless you try.

Facebook is one of the most popular social networking sites on the market and has enabled many developers to bring their innovative ideas to the market as well. Facebook is known for tweaking its design all the time, but one thing that remains constant is your Facebook pages and tabs. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could add your website to your Facebook page or personal page without having to know any HTML? Well, there is a service for that. TabSite is an innovative tab builder for Facebook that enables you to give your Facebook page or profile a whole new look by adding a site to Facebook in form of a tab.

TabSite comes with multiple plans for those who want to get more out of this service. If you are a business owner and want to build a more attractive page for your business or just give your fans more ways to communicate way you, the premium plans available through TabSite could come in handy.

The top plan does give you a chance to use TabSite on your fan page and add a contract form and documents to your tabs. It also allows for HTML editing, so you will have more control over your tab. You can always try the service out for free (and show ads).

So why should you try TabSite? If you are serious about Facebook marketing but don’t have the budget to create a killer Facebook page, this service comes in handy. The service does have some limitations (including the restrictions set forth by Facebook). But it’s pretty easy to use and can save you time. It’s not expensive either. Yet another Facebook tool to take your Facebook pages to the next level.

A whole lot of people spend hours each day on Facebook updating their status and viewing other people’s status. Facebook is still growing and holds a lot of promise for marketers and businesses. It’s not a finished product by any means. Facebook’s Advertising platform has gone through many changes in the past few months, and it’s become another venue for marketers to take advantage of. Now it seems Facebook is testing status advertising. Essentially, it’s trying to make it easier for Facebook page owners to promote their top status updates and get more action going on their pages.

Credit: Web Pro News

Web Pro News has discovered that some Facebook page owners are seeing the “promote” feature show up next to their status updates. The process seems to be pretty straight forward. Once you click on the promote link, you are going to have to go through a wizard, which will include you approving how much money you want to spend promoting your page and who you want to show it to. From there, you can expect traffic to flow to your pages.

Online marketers are already taking advantage of Facebook to promote their pages. Some argue that advertising will take away from Facebook experience. But advertising is going to be the future of Facebook. That’s how the company has managed to stay afloat while Twitter and other services still struggle to come up with a proper business plan.

Promoting your page status updates is another easy way of increasing traffic and interactions on your Facebook pages. Of course, you want to make sure you spend enough time to optimize your Facebook pages. This latest move by Facebook could be just a test, but we have heard similar stories about Twitter. There is no question we’ll be seeing similar attempts in the future.

Your thoughts: are you against more ads on Facebook?

Have you ever wanted to share a quick video tip with your Twitter or Facebook followers? You can always do what other people have been doing for years. You can upload your video to your server or YouTube and then share the link with your followers. Or you can use Screenjelly. Screenjelly is an innovative service that lets you create screen-casts and share them with your Twitter followers or via e-mail easily. Screenjelly allows you to capture your screen, add your own audio, and upload your video in a flash. Can’t get easier than that.

All you have to do is start the web application and start talking! The software will automatically capture your screen, and you can stop the recording when you prefer. And since this is not a desktop application, it’s not really dependent on your operating system. So you can capture your screen on Vista, Windows 7, or Mac OS.

Sharing video snippets with your followers and friends is a great way to provide more value to them and get them more engaged. With Screenjelly, you can do it all easily without having to spend hundreds of dollars on Camtasia or Captivate. And you don’t have to worry about converting videos or uploading them by hand. Talk about making things super easy.
